New Office on the Block
Amidst the hustle and bustle of KZN’s Umhlanga Town Centre, one of the area’s biggest office blocks has emerged. The Centenary office development which spans 15 500m² has taken its first occupants in quadrant one and tenants and investors of the second quadrant will move in towards the end of March.

Unlike many of the area’s office blocks, the Centenary has no residential units. Office suites are spacious and airy with large windows providing an abundance of natural light. Offices open onto balconies with gardens and uninterrupted views of the Town Centre and sugar cane fields to the west of the N2.

Positioned on the corner of Centenary Boulevard and Meridian Drive, The Centenary can be easily accessed from the N2 and is well placed near the new interchange being built north of the Umhlanga / Mount Edgecombe off ramp. The interchange will link up with a new arterial road Umhlanga Boulevard which will run parallel to Centenary Boulevard. “This means that tenants and owners will bypass the Gateway traffic and have quick access to the building off the N2,” said Murray Archibald, a spokesperson for the Centenary Development Company. The new N2 interchange is expected to be completed in early 2010.

The development which was launched in September 2007 had a very good uptake with buyers looking to invest as well as rental queries. There is now very little space left with 800m² available from a total of 11800m² which has been built in the first 3 quadrants.

Units are selling at between R15 000 and R17 500 per square metre. Rentals start at R130 per square metre.

The final quadrant comprising 4000m² will become available in December 2009.
